How do you stay productive when you're working away from home?
Quote from NorthernContractor on June 8, 2026, 11:25 amThree weeks into a contract in Bristol, staying in a Premier Inn, eating at the same Nando's every other night. The work is good but the routine gets to you after a while.
I've started treating the evenings more deliberately — gym first, then food, then a couple of hours of reading or side project work. Makes a difference.
How do others manage the working away routine without going quietly mad?

Quote from ContractorVet on June 8, 2026, 5:26 pmThe deliberate evenings approach works. I do something similar — I treat the first hour after work as sacred, whether that's a walk, a gym session or just sitting somewhere that isn't the hotel room. It separates work from the rest of the evening properly.
