Has anyone ever actually read their contract in full?

I mean really read it. Every clause.

Had a situation a few years back where a client tried to enforce a 12-month non-compete clause that would have prevented me working in my entire sector. It was in the contract. I'd signed it without reading it properly.

Ended up being fine but it was a wake-up call. Now I pay a solicitor £150 to review every new contract. Best £150 I spend.
Anyone else had a nasty surprise buried in a contract?

Had almost exactly the same situation with a non-compete. Mine was for 6 months but covered a ridiculously broad definition of "competing business." Solicitor spotted it immediately. Worth every penny.
